INFOCOMM 2007 IMCCA SESSION DESCRIPTION

The Value of High Definition (HD) & Telepresence
Tuesday 1:30 - 3:30 pm

High Definition means participating in a concert or dance as if there, seeing creatures under the sea or stars in the sky, watching detailed surgery at a distance, and SEEING facial expressions and reacting to them. Telepresence can be defined as the ability to share audio, data, and video with a distant site or sites as though the person were truly in the same room, across the conference table from you. In other words, the ability to have a meeting that is as good as being there. Attend this session to learn the similarities and differences between HD & Telepresence and hear how users are applying each type of technology.
Moderator: Dr. S. Ann Earon, President, TRI Inc. and Chairperson Emeritus, IMCCA

Web Conferencing versus Video Conferencing
Wednesday 1:30-3:30 pm

Many organizations are wrestling with the choice between using videoconferencing versus adopting less costly web conferencing. This session deals with the value of each type of technology and how each can be properly positioned to allow an organization to gain the most value.
Moderator: Robert L Keeton

Business Continuity: The World Is Not the Same Any More
Wednesday 10:30 am -12:30 pm

With the potential for a pandemic, the increase in terrorism, and the potential for more natural disasters, the way we work is changing. No longer can we count on travel as a way to interface with others. Organizations are now planning how to continue working even if employees cannot make it to their offices. This session will present how collaborative conferencing tools can be deployed to allow work to continue when people cannot easily meet face-to-face.
Moderator: Scott Feinberg, Global Market Development Manager, TANDBERG

Making the Leap from ISDN to IP and Being Successful Once There
Wednesday 8:00 am-10:00 am

Learn how to migrate your collaborative conferencing systems from ISDN to IP. Find out what works and what to avoid. Hear vendors and users share their recommendations for successful deployment and usage so IP can be a benefit to your organization.
Moderator: Bok Keeton

Turning Collaborative Conferencing into a Necessity
Tuesday 8:00 am-10:00 am

Many users of audio, web and video conferencing technologies view them as niceties, not necessities. Delve into methods you can use to add collaborative technologies to conferencing and turn them into tools the organization cannot do without.
Moderator: Anne L. Hardwick, Associate Director Voice & Video Services, Virginia Information Technologies Dept.
